SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER CHARACTER CONTEST CHALLENGE

A FILM WRITER is offering a unique character contest challenge. Submit your TV Script, Short or Screenplay (complete or in progress) up to 30 pages and receive feedback on your characters.  A FILM WRITER will select the top 3 characters to win the challenge.  All story types are welcomed!  See rules, guidelines and conditions.

Writer #1: My character is better than your character.

Writer #2: Ha! My character has internal struggle!

Writer#3: My character has flaws!

Writer #4: My character climbs walls! 

Writer #1: My character thinks out of the box.

Writer #2: My character lives in a box!

Writer #4:  My character is a blooding sucking obsessive compulsive, afraid of the dark, hard drinking, lover of cats, never been kissed, risk taking germaphobic driven by their motivation for revenge!

Writer #3: Is your character threatening my character?

Writer #4: My character is challenging your character!

Writer #3: May the best character win!

CHARACTER CONTEST GUIDELINES, RULES, & CONDITIONS

Submission Guidelines & Rules & Conditions

• All entries must be completed by using the online completed entry form and check off of agreements to rules & guidelines, along with the appropriate entry fee.  If we cannot verify payment, your entry will be disqualified
• All entries must be in English.

• IMPORTANT! No writer or contact information should appear on the entry material itself. The first page of entry materials should include title ONLY, no name or contact information. Name or identification must not appear anywhere else in the entry materials. Author identification on the entry materials can result in immediate disqualification as we must preserve anonymity in the judging process.
• No promotional materials, illustrations, or artwork will be accepted.

• Shorts, TV Scripts and Screenplays  up to 30 pages ONLY.
  
• Screenplays must be in 12 point Courier font and formatted according to industry standards. Pages must be numbered.
• We are only accepting online submissions at this time. Under absolutely no circumstances will substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts of the entry screenplay(s) be made. Screenplays will not be returned.
• By entering this competition and in the event you are declared a finalist, you understand and accept that we will be free to use your name and likeness for advertising or promotional purposes without additional consideration.
• All Decisions of the Judges are final and may not be disputed. The Judges will adhere to our competition guidelines; however, the competition and its administrators may not be held responsible for any errors or omissions on the part of the Judges.
• You also agree that you are not entitled to any compensation or credit.
• The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Terri Zinner/A FILM WRITER, its employees, contractors, agents and Judges from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and/or publicity to the Screenplay entered.

Eligibility

• Submitted scripts must be original screenplays, and the sole property of the applicant(s). Co-writers are accepted.
  
• No established character from an already produced TV series, film or other media can be entered.
  
• Applicants 18 years of age or older are eligible. Minors need the written consent of their parent or guardian.
  
• All entries should be in English.
  
• All entries must be uploaded in PDF format.
• If a submitted screenplay/short/TV Script becomes optioned or purchased between the time of submission and the end of the judging period, that entry will no longer be eligible.
• Competition judges, paid readers and independent contractors of A FILM WRITER AND THE STORY READERS are not eligible to enter.
• Former winners (the top 3)  of A FILM WRITER SCREENPLAY CONTEST CAN NOT resubmit their winning script.
• TV SCRIPTS, SHORTS, and SCREENPLAYS (complete or in progress) up to 30 pages only.  It can be a work in progress.
